Gabor Stark is an architect, urbanist and educator, living and working in and between Berlin, Germany and Canterbury, England. Together with his partner Ines-Ulrike Rudolph he founded the Berlin-based practice tx - büro für temporäre architektur in 2000. The research and design agenda of tx comprises landscape and regional development, temporary uses, participatory planning and programmatic urbanism. Between 2000 and 2004, Gabor taught architecture and urban design as a guest lecturer and assistant professor in Berlin. Since 2007 he teaches as a senior lecturer at UCA Canterbury School of Architecture, where he runs the MA Urban Design course and the postgraduate studio SYN City. Under the working title precarious propositions, Gabor explores the liminal space between architecture and sculpture. The portable monument is part of this ongoing investigation.
